IMPD: Arrests made after operation aimed at reckless driving, ‘spinner’ activity

INDIANAPOLIS — Multiple felony arrests were made in connection with reckless driving and “spinner” activity that occurred in Indianapolis over the weekend.

According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers partnered with the Cumberland Police Department for the weekend operation. A news release from the department stated that the efforts resulted in the following:

  • Three felony arrests
  • Four tickets
  • Six warnings
  • At least three towed vehicles

In one instance, 19-year-old Giovanni Aguilar-Garcia, an Indianapolis resident, was charged with one count of criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony, as well as multiple driving-related misdemeanors.

This comes after Aguilar-Garcia was taken into custody in the 8300 block of Castleton Corner Drive on Saturday evening during a reported car meet, according to a police report obtained by FOX59/CBS4.

Aguilar-Garcia will be held on a no-bond hold until bail is set by a trial court. According to court documents, Aguilar-Garcia’s initial hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Marion County…
