Indiana DNR Leads Recovery Effort After River Drowning

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WOWO)— Crews are continuing search and recovery operations along the East Fork of the White River after an 11-year-old girl drowned Tuesday evening.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the girl was with her family on a sandbar at Mill Race Park when she stepped into the water around 6:30 p.m. and was quickly pulled under by the current.

Officials say her father attempted to reach her, but she was carried away by the flow and did not resurface…
