Driver crashes into two-story home on northwest side, flees the scene on foot

INDIANAPOLIS — A driver crashed into a two-story residence before fleeing the scene on foot on the northwest side.

According to the Pike Township Fire Department, crews arrived on scene to a structural collapse in the 5400 block of Golden Meadows Drive on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were able to determine that a gray sedan had gone off the road and reportedly drove through multiple yards before crashing into the home.

There were reportedly two residents who were home at the time of the crash, a woman and her 1-year-old grandson.

“She had just laid him down to rest. She was upstairs, she went down to the kitchen and she started to put something in the oven and the next thing you know, she heard a loud crash, and that was the car coming through the house and it just scared the mess out of her,” said Angela Williams, a daughter of the homeowner…
