Indianapolis man sentenced after threatening to kill probation officer during federal court hearing

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man will serve almost two years in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to threatening his probation officer during a court hearing.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, 32-year-old Dedrick Brown was sentenced to 21 months after he pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a federal employee.

In March 2025, the release said that Brown appeared at a supervised release revocation hearing in federal court. Officials said during the hearing that Brown threatened his probation officer, who had testified against him.

Brown reportedly told the officer he would shoot them, stating he would “make it his job” to find and kill them when Brown was released. At that point, the release said that Brown attempted to spit on his probation officer…
