Indianapolis father whose toddler fatally shot herself sentenced to 4 years in prison

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis father whose daughter fatally shot herself last summer was sentenced Thursday.

Leon’ta Anderson, 23, was sentenced April 23 to four years in prison, plus two years probation in the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Harmony.

Harmony found her father’s gun on top of a shoe rack and was shot and killed July 11, 2025, in their home on Ralston Avenue in Indianapolis. Anderson took a plea deal for neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, a level 3 felony, instead of the level 1 felony he was originally charged with.
