INDIANA — Parts of southern Indiana remain under a Flood Watch Saturday as forecasters warn additional heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in areas already saturated from recent storms.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, the Flood Watch remains in effect until noon EDT for Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Scott and Washington counties in Indiana.
Forecasters said excessive rainfall may cause flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone areas. Officials warned that poor drainage and urban locations could also experience flooding problems.
The weather service said the region has already seen several rounds of heavy rain in recent days, leaving the ground saturated and more vulnerable to flash flooding. Another 1 to 2 inches of rain falling within a three-hour period could quickly create dangerous conditions…
