I-80 Lane Closures, Delays for Road Work and Toll Plaza Upgrades in Indiana

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) reports that The Indiana Toll Road (I-80/I-90) will conduct overnight pavement rehabilitation and toll plaza improvements at multiple locations beginning Wednesday, May 27. Work will continue through early fall, with completion expected by October.

Work will take place nightly from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM ET to reduce daytime travel impacts. Weather permitting, dates and locations for overnight Toll Plaza work is scheduled as follow:

  • Eastpoint Plaza: Monday, May 27, 2026
  • Notre Dame Plaza (Exit 77): Wednesday, May 27, 2026
  • Angola Plaza (Exit 144): Monday, July 21, 2026
  • Howe Plaza (Exit 121): Thursday, August 27, 2026
  • Elkhart Plaza (Exit 92): Friday, September 9, 2026

What I-80 Travelers Should Know:

  • Eastpoint and Angola Toll Plazas will remain OPEN at all times. Traffic will continue to flow through the plazas, with a limited number of lanes closed overnight for work.
  • Howe, Notre Dame, and Elkhart Toll Plazas will experience FULL PLAZA CLOSURES on scheduled work nights between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Motorists should plan alternate routes and follow posted detours during these closures.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra overnight travel time, and use caution near work zones. All schedules are weather‑dependent.
