Asheville bar, driver sued by family of 21-year-old killed in 2024 wrong-way crash

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The family of a 21-year-old killed in a 2024 crash is suing an Asheville sports pub, alleging the business served the driver while she was visibly impaired.

Relatives of 21-year-old Caleb Henshaw, of Durham, filed an amended complaint earlier this month in Buncombe Superior Court. The complaint alleges that The Bier Garden served the woman accused of causing the crash alcoholic beverages after she was already visibly impaired, according to the document filed by Lori Hudson and Anthony Henshaw.

When the crash occurred, troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Eden Russo was driving a Jeep the wrong way in the eastbound lanes on I-40 on the evening of Sept. 10, 2024.
