Wake County wants to help 1,400 people get out of homelessness while clearing out homeless encampment sites over the next 18 months through a $22 million initiative.
The new Wake at Home initiative, announced last week, is organized by the county’s homelessness prevention network Wake Continuum of Care (CoC) and represents an ambitious public and private investment in an ongoing public concern that by some measures is growing.
