Man charged with murder of Apex high school coach now in Wake County, records show

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After an Apex high school coach was found stabbed to death in an apartment in Raleigh, the man arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with her death is back in Wake County.

The Raleigh Police Department announced an investigation into the stabbing death of Sheremy Gwenette Dillard after she was found stabbed to death in her boyfriend’s apartment in the 2000 block of Whistling Straits Way on Aug. 13 by police.

Using a combination of Flock cameras and evidence collected at the scene, police developed Dillard’s boyfriend, Rickey Harper, as the suspect in the case. They presented their case to the Wake County District Attorney’s Office, and Harper was charged with first-degree murder.

On Aug. 14, police said Harper was located and arrested in Pennsylvania, just before 3 p.m., by the Plymouth Township Police Department…
