The city of Raleigh is changing the way it picks up household leaf piles in 2026.
As of September 8, residents will no longer have their loose leaf piles picked up by waste removal staff. There are now two ways to rid your yard of the fallen foliage.
1. Bag it
Place leaves in paper biodegradable bags. You can put up to 15 additional bags on the curb next to your carts, and up to five bundles of twigs. Those biodegradable bags can be purchased at the local hardware or lawn and garden store. You can also find them at your local big box store like Target or WalMart.
2. Bin it
Place the leaves in yard waste bins. You can order an additional bin online at this link or by calling 919-996-3245.
Pickup begins in September. Your trash pickup collection day will remain the same. You can use this web tool to find out the collection schedule for your neighborhood…
