Jeremy Powers has spent more than two decades in the food and beverage industry, including 15 years working throughout Raleigh and Durham. His path behind the bar began in barbecue restaurants and high-volume corporate concepts. A three-year stint at the former Plates Kitchen in Raleigh then sparked a deeper interest in flavor, botanicals, and cocktail creation. Today, he brings that experience to 1000 Piers, where he has worked for about a year and a half.
For the NCRLA Chef Showdown Grand Finale, Powers is bringing a cocktail that’s been in the making for years. Inspired by James Taylor’s “Copperline” and its connection to the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area, his Copperline cocktail uses 1000 Piers Coastal Carolina Gin alongside North Carolina tomato wine, toasted pecan and sweet potato orgeat, and a cordial made with charred North Carolina peaches, honey, and sea salt.
