‘Intoxicated’ Raleigh police detective charged with assault after altercations at Wake Forest restaurant

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — An “intoxicated” Raleigh Police Department detective is facing several charges following multiple altercations that happened before, during and after he was asked to leave a Wake Forest restaurant early Tuesday morning.

According to the Town of Wake Forest, their officers responded to a report of an “intoxicated individual” at Carolina Ale House, located at 11685 Northpark Drive, shortly after 2:15 a.m. Once there, they found out that the restaurant’s manager had asked a man “to leave the premises due to disruptive behavior that included bothering several employees and patrons.”

Wake Forest officials identified the man as 32-year-old Christopher Andre Reed, a Raleigh police officer. The Raleigh Police Department confirmed he was a detective with the agency and was off-duty at the time. According to Wake Forest police, as Reed left Carolina Ale House, he “attempted to strike two patrons on separate occasions before assaulting the manager.”

Not long after that, Reed was found walking along Capital Boulevard/U.S. Highway 1. When he was found, officials said he had cuts and abrasions from trying to jump a barbed wire fence.
