Brownell Hot After Clemson’s Loss to Duke

DURHAM, N.C. — Clemson head coach Brad Brownell was not happy about the call with one second to play that cost the Tigers in a 72-71 loss to No. 12 Duke Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke’s Tyrese Proctor made two free throws with one second left to lift the Blue Devils to victory. Proctor was fouled by Clemson’s Josh Beadle as he attempted to put up the potential game-winner.

Brownell got hot after it was pointed out that Saturday’s one-point loss to the Blue Devils was the closest the Tigers have come to winning at Duke in 29 years.

“We lost by two the last time I was here and we had the lead with two minutes to go,” he said. “I have been here in this same situation about four times, within a possession. I have not won one yet.

“So, tonight was as close as we got. We got to one second and had it taken from us.”
