RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman living at Arium Southpoint Apartments in Raleigh was one of several people who witnessed a bullet fly by them.
Her sister, Janet Mbugua, said the woman was working from home when the bullet hit her apartment on Shire Lane.
NC State student arrested and charged after 12 shooting incidents along I-40, police say
“I think a bullet just went through my apartment,” the woman told police in a 911 call. “It looks like the entry point is coming from the window and through the kitchen, like the top of the door in the entryway to the kitchen.”
Investigators later discovered the bullet punched a hole through the apartment, went through the wall above a door, hit the ceiling, and then struck a cup in the woman’s apartment. Mbugua said it was frightening to hear her sister traumatized during the 911 call while she waited for police to arrive.
“I saw my siblings were on a call and I joined,” Mbugua said. “It was scary to see my sister in her bedroom, taking cover from a gunshot after calling 911. It felt a little surreal.”
