CLAYTON — Thanks to the generosity of Clayton residents and town staff, this year’s toy drive will make the holidays brighter for children in western North Carolina.
A project of the town’s Wellness Committee, the drive collected hundreds of toys, books, games and other gifts to support families suffering from Hurricane Helene.
This year’s donations are headed to Jimmy & Jean’s Family Entertainment and Arcade in West Jefferson. The 70,000-square-foot video arcade has paused regular operations to dedicate itself to collecting and distributing items to families in need.
With 600 children registered to receive toys, the generosity of the Clayton community will make a meaningful impact, the town said in a post on its website. From dolls and action figures to puzzles, art supplies and sports equipment, every donation represents a moment of joy for a child in need, the town added.
Clayton employees also joined in the giving spirit, bringing items to their annual holiday luncheon. “Together, we showed the strength of a community united by compassion,” the town said.
