The town of Zebulon has selected a new town manager to head up its many municipal projects.
Gilbert Todd Jr., a Zebulon native, will officially assume the role on Dec. 26. He brings with him experience in both the town’s government and the military.
Todd served in the United States Air Force, and has worked for the city of Raleigh, Wake County, and the United States Department of Defense.
“I am excited to announce Gilbert Todd, Jr. has been named our next Town Manager and look forward to the dedicated leadership he will provide for our community,” Mayor Glenn L. York said.
As a result of Todd’s hiring, the contract of interim manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba expired Dec. 22.
Jaiyeoba has served in the role since an emergency called session of the town’s board June 4. He was apointed interim town manager after former town manager Joe Moore stepped down the previous day.
In September, the board agreed to extend Jaiyeoba’s contract on a month-by-month basis, which gave the town flexibility to more seamlessly transition from Jaiyeoba to Todd.
