ZEBULON, N.C. (WNCN) — A Zebulon woman was sentenced to eight years in prison last week for her role in a multi-million COVID-19 fraud scheme, federal prosecutors said.
Loretta Clarice James, 49, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud on May 29, 2024. Her sentence was given on May 8, according to the Office of the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Federal prosecutors said one of James’ co-conspirators, 43-year-old Lakesha Bowles, was sentenced on April 24 to two years and six months in prison. Both women were also ordered to repay over $1 million in restitution…
