FOUR OAKS – Firefighters rescued two children trapped inside a burning singlewide mobile home. The fire happened Saturday night at 2339 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, off US 701 South.
Authorities said a woman had been cooking and left momentarily to carry some food next door to a neighbor, leaving three children in the residence.
While the woman was next door, a grease fire erupted in the kitchen. One child was able to escape but two other children were trapped inside.
Firefighters from the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department arrived quickly and found the mobile home fully engulfed, with flames coming from several windows.
Firefighters located the two young children. Both juveniles were transported to UNC Health in Smithfield with unknown injuries…
