Multiple Shootings Reported in Raleigh as Two Downtown Incidents Raise Public Safety Concerns and Suspect Charged in Conifer Drive Shooting

Raleigh Police are investigating three separate overnight shootings, two of which occurred within minutes and blocks of each other in the early hours of yesterday. The first incident occurred around 1 a.m. near Boylan Avenue and West Johnson Street, where a man was found with injuries consistent with a gunshot, according to WRAL. He received medical attention and was transported to WakeMed.

While officers were at the scene, additional gunshots were heard coming from the parking deck at 510 Glenwood Avenue, where another injured individual was located and also taken to WakeMed. Both incidents took place within a 30-minute span.

Neighborhood residents have voiced their concern, with Jenny Liebel explaining to WRAL, “It’s concerning, mostly because we want business to thrive downtown,” she said, “We’re also concerned because there are families out here during the day, but at night, we want the young people to be safe too.”…
