Heat index to hit 100 degrees on a hot, humid Wednesday in the Triad

PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) —A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. for Chatham County.

We have a couple more hot, humid days ahead before a cold front ushers in cool, drier weather this weekend. Today, temperatures will return to the lower-90s with the heat index in the Triad reaching 100 degrees. The heat index will be in the lower 100s across the southern Piedmont.  We will continue to have partly cloudy skies today and a slim, 20% chance of a stray shower.

Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy overnight with lows in the mid-70s.

A cold front, approaching from the northwest, will push more clouds into the Piedmont on Thursday and highs will be a few degrees cooler, in the upper-80s. We will keep a 20% chance of stray showers in the forecast during the day, but rain chances will increase Thursday night to 60%.  The front is forecast to pass over the Piedmont during the day on Friday, maintaining a 40% chance of rain.  Highs on Friday will be in the mid-80s.

This weekend is going to be fantastic weather-wise! While there may be an isolated early morning shower on Saturday, the rest of the day will be mostly cloudy. No worries, we are expecting partly cloudy skies on Sunday.  Highs are going to stay in the mid- to upper-70s all weekend, and the humidity is going to be quite low. Enjoy!

As the new work week begins, we will continue to have unseasonably cool weather with highs near 80 degrees on Monday and Tuesday. Monday is going to be great, with partly cloudy skies and just a slim chance of showers. Rain chances pop back up to 40% by Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies…
