Washed-out Apex road could take 3+ months to fix

APEX, N.C.( WNCN) – The North Carolina Department of Transportation is expected to provide more details Monday on what it will take to get a washed-out road in Apex open again.

A crater-like hole remains on Olive Chapel Road near Patterson Grove Road. A detour is now in place as this crater remains in the road.

While the NCDOT has an estimated fix of late November for the road, Apex council member Terry Mahaffey says it could take longer than three months to get this fixed. In an update to constituents, Mahaffey said this is because of all the steps that go into a publicly funded project. The state needs to design the project, secure permits, find a contractor and hope the weather doesn’t get in the way…
