Early Morning Crash Causes Traffic Delays

SELMA – A two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning sent one driver to the hospital, heavily damaged both vehicles, and caused significant delays for morning commuters.

The T-bone collision occurred around 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Byrd Road. According to an eyewitness, the SUV reportedly turned into the path of a pickup truck pulling an equipment trailer.

The driver of the SUV was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters using specialized rescue tools. She was transported to WakeMed with unknown injuries.

The pickup truck, driven by an off-duty Wake County fire officer, came to rest in a nearby field. He sustained minor injuries.

Fire crews from North Side and Wilson’s Mills, along with Johnston County EMS, responded to the scene. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash…
