Woman charged after allegedly ordering pit bull attack on neighbor; dog shot dead

RALEIGH, N.C. (WKRC) – A North Carolina woman is facing serious charges after allegedly directing her pit bull to attack her neighbor on Sunday at their Raleigh apartment complex. According to court documents, the pit bull inflicted severe puncture wounds on the man’s arms before a bystander intervened and shot the dog dead.

Sheila Marie Hunter, 58,, whose criminal history spans 40 years, is charged with assault with intent to cause great bodily harm, cruelty to animals, and intoxicated and disruptive behavior. The cruelty charge stems from her alleged failure to assist the dog after it was shot. The disruptive behavior charge is based on allegations that she cursed and insulted others during the police investigation.

Eli Santos Blanco, who has been at odds with Hunter for months, described the attack as brutal. “It’s a hard pain to explain. At first, it was just okay, then she was ripping my tendons, muscles apart,” he said to WNCN. “I looked at that dog and I saw the grip she had. I just started punching the dog, poking out anything to make it get off.”…
