Former Greenville officer arrested on child exploitation charges by NCSBI

The Greenville Police Department has been informed that Dominic Olivares, a former patrol officer who was employed with GPD from May 2020 to Aug. 2021, was arrested by the NCSBI on charges related to the exploitation of a minor, according to a Greenville spokesperson.

Olivares, 30, of Johnston County was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Fuquay-Varina. GPD received a complaint regarding Olivares on May 27, 2021, and the matter was referred to the SBI the next day. Olivares has not been employed with GPD since his termination on Aug. 5, 2021, following GPD’s internal investigation, a Greenville spokesperson says.

Warrants state two offense dates, which is Oct. 16 and Oct. 19 of 2021, and that the victim was 16-years-old at the time. A Greenville spokesperson says that images were found on his personal devices during NCSBI’s investigation, and that during Olivares’s employment, Olivares did not serve in a unit that investigated crimes against minors or have access to related case files or evidence…
