Brookwood Boys 13th in Great American XC Festival’s Race of Champions

CARY, N.C. — Brookwood’s boys cross country teams placed 13th Saturday in the Great American XC Festival’s Race of Champions, the event’s top division that featured 40 teams and several nationally ranked programs.

Mason James led the Broncos with a 58th-place finish in a 5K time of 15 minutes, 49.40 seconds. He was backed up by Alex Sotomayor Perez (107th, 16:08.50), Isaac Dehnke (126th, 16:15.80), Luke Emmett (141st, 16:22.40) and Malcolm Phillips (166th, 16:31.60) in a race that included 380 boys runners.

In the event’s Blue Race, Brookwood’s Kennedy Wardle won the individual title in 18:22.80 and Wesleyan’s girls placed fifth in the team standings — one spot ahead of the Brookwood girls…
