Raleigh Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing $450 in WakeMed Hospital Break-In

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 30-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he broke into WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh and stole $450 from several safes inside the facility.

According to an arrest warrant obtained by the Raleigh News & Observer, Burnis Lee Morgan was taken into custody Tuesday in connection with a Sunday break-in at the WakeMed location on 3000 New Bern Avenue.

Suspect Accused of Breaking Into Five Safes

Authorities allege that Morgan opened five safes in an attempt to take cash belonging to the hospital. He now faces five counts of safecracking, along with charges of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

Morgan is currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center on a $65,000 bond, according to court documents. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday. Details of the investigation were first published by The News & Observer.

Prior Criminal Record and Recent Parole Release
