Gang member sentenced on federal gun charges

Authorities say a Rocky Mount man who pleaded guilty to federal firearms charges will spend nine years behind bars.

Jeffrey Clark Jr. was sentenced Nov. 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina in Raleigh. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon on Oct. 28.

“The Nash County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the law enforcement and federal partners involved in this investigation,” NCSO Sgt. Kevin Bissette said in a Monday news release. “Gangs, guns and drugs are a continuous problem for many communities. We strive to combat those problems by seeking out the individuals responsible. This is accomplished by not only pursuing large-scale drug traffickers, but also anyone that believes they can commit crimes in our county without consequences.”…
