Two adults killed, 2 infants injured in Wilkes County crash: Highway Patrol

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — Two adults from Durham were killed Monday morning in a collision at an intersection in Wilkes County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded just after 8 a.m. to Somers Road at Hunting Creek Road in Ronda, where investigators say a 2024 Toyota RAV4 traveling west on Hunting Creek Road failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a tractor-trailer headed north on Somers Road.

Highway Patrol identified the driver of the Toyota as 34-year-old Aljon Salvador Aguelo of Durham. He died at the scene. A passenger in the SUV, 35-year-old Maricel Nano Aquino of Durham, also died at the scene. Troopers say she was not wearing a seatbelt…
