MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Two men are facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop near Raleigh-Durham International Airport uncovered more than $1 million worth of methamphetamine, deputies said Friday.
According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted the traffic stop on Interstate 40 near Aviation Parkway on Nov. 7. They recovered four kilograms of methamphetamine, which has an estimated street value of $1.2 million.
Deputies said the two occupants of the vehicle, 25-year-old Helmer Garcia-Ordaz and 30-year-old Antonio Lopez-Garcia, were arrested. Both are charged with two counts of felony trafficking in methamphetamine. Garcia-Ordaz is also charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and felony maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance.
An investigation determined the two suspects transported the drugs to North Carolina from another state. Lopez-Garcia is also suspected of drug activity in the Mecklenburg County area, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office…
