CLAYTON — A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot Friday evening after a weapon discharged inside a crowded apartment in Clayton, according to Clayton Police Chief Greg Tart. Officers are searching for a 20-year-old man accused of manslaughter.
Chief Tart said officers initially responded around 5:30 p.m. to a weapons-related disturbance in the 300 block of Commodore Street when several people ran from a nearby apartment yelling that someone had been shot.
Officers entered an apartment in the 400 block of Commodore Street and found the child with a gunshot wound. Johnston County EMS treated him, but he died from his injuries at the hospital. His name has not been released…
