Man accused of attacking firefighter, EMS after DWI crash in Wake County: Warrants

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — Two first responders were attacked following a single-car crash in Wake County on New Year’s Day, warrants show.

According to a warrant filed by the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 37-year-old Jose Antonio Hernandez Escobar of Raleigh is accused of driving under the influence when he crashed his vehicle on Auburn Church Road near Garner.

Troopers said Hernandez went off the right side of the road and hit a speed limit sign, then overcorrected and went onto the left shoulder before striking a ditch…
