One person arrested following police chase in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody Monday night following a high-speed police chase involving a stolen vehicle in the Raleigh area, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the incident began around 10:30 p.m. when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for running a stop sign at the intersection of West River Road and Simms Bridge Road. After running the license plate, the deputy learned the vehicle had been reported stolen. When deputies attempted to stop the car, the driver fled.

Authorities said stop sticks were deployed by Franklin County deputies and were successful, but the chase continued southbound on U.S. 1 Capital Boulevard. Officers with the Wake Forest Police Department later attempted to deploy stop sticks as well, but those efforts were unsuccessful…
