Dog dies after falling through frozen pond in North Carolina

CARY, N.C. (WNCN) — A dog is dead after falling through a frozen pond in Cary on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to the Cary Police Department, a witness saw the dog fall through a thin layer of ice on a retention pond in the 100 block of Burlingame Way at around 7:30 a.m. The witness called 911 to report what happened to the dog.

Firefighters were able to get the dog out of the water, but the dog did not survive, according to Cary police…
