Garner Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended at Raleigh Hotel Ahead of Monday Court Appearance

Garner police have arrested 61-year-old Raymond Lee Dean III in connection with a last Friday morning armed robbery at the Bank of America on Benson Road. Dean is facing charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon. Law enforcement agencies, including Garner Police, Raleigh Police, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, coordinated to locate and apprehend him at a hotel in Northwest Raleigh, according to CBS 17.

Authorities report that Dean allegedly implied he was armed and is accused of stealing about $7,220, with no injuries reported. A Garner Police spokesperson told CBS 17 that, as the lead agency, they, along with the Raleigh Police Department, Wake County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, successfully located and took the suspect into custody in Northwest Raleigh. Police confirmed Dean was apprehended before fleeing, and no one was harmed during the incident.
