Wake County Cops Nab Suspect After Dawn Stabbing Rocks Willow Spring

A quiet Willow Spring morning turned violent early Thursday when a man was stabbed and rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Wake County deputies later tracked down a suspect and took him into custody, according to authorities.

Investigation and timeline

According to a post by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 9300 block of Kennebec Road at about 6:30 a.m. and found a man suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. At first, no one was in custody, and investigators released a description of a person of interest described as roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall with black hair, brown eyes and a beard, last seen wearing a dark gray or light gray hoodie, dark pants and black and white sneakers. A later update on the sheriff’s page reported that the individual had been located and taken into custody.

Search, school response and local help

WRAL reported that deputies searched the area for nearly four hours before finding the person of interest, and that the sheriff’s office thanked the Fuquay-Varina and Angier police departments for assisting in the search. According to the outlet, Willow Spring High School briefly went into a code-yellow lockdown while officers combed the area, then returned to normal operations after authorities cleared the scene.

Arrest and charges

ABC11 reported that deputies arrested 34-year-old Johnny Rodriguez-Gonzalez and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. The outlet stated that the investigation remains active, and authorities have not released further details about a possible motive or the victim’s current condition.
