A drive to help: Volunteers transport Durham seniors to doctor appointments

DURHAM, N.C. — Getting to and from needed doctor appointments is not always easy for some seniors in North Carolina, but a nonprofit in Durham is aimed at eliminating that stress and making it easy and free for seniors to get to the care they need.

Debby Leonard began volunteering as a driver for Aging Forward Durham a year ago, around the time the nonprofit launched in the Bull City in April 2025.
