Battle of the Carolinas: Duke, Clemson meet in Charlotte with ACC title-game berth on the line

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Duke and Clemson will meet in Charlotte on Friday night in a Battle of the Carolinas, with a spot in Saturday night’s ACC Championship game on the line.

Both teams advanced in nail-biting fashion Thursday night, with Duke edging Florida State and Clemson slipping past UNC — each by a score of 80-79 after late comeback bids fell short.

Clemson and Duke played in Durham on Valentine’s Day last month, a game Duke won convincingly, 67-54.

Duke was — and still is — regarded as one of the nation’s best teams, while Clemson is fighting to strengthen its NCAA Tournament resume. If the Tigers beat Duke and go on to win the ACC title Saturday, they’d secure an automatic bid to March Madness…
