Raleigh native Quincy Jones is bringing his experience as a caterer and private chef to downtown Wilson, opening his own restaurant, Taste of Soul, to serve up soul food staples.
“Growing up, my mom, she was a self-taught chef and caterer,” Jones said. “I learned early how to cook for her and assist her. When I got older, I decided I wanted to go to culinary school. I went around to different restaurants, country clubs and hotels to get that experience. During COVID, I was a private chef, in-home dining chef. I opened my own catering company, did that for a little while, but I’ve always wanted to have my own brick and mortar location.”
Although Jones isn’t from Wilson and hasn’t lived in the area, he said he has friends who live here. One, he said, is a real estate agent who helped him find the former Morehead City Seafood Company and Carolina Cheese location at 205 Tarboro St. SW.
