A California couple was sentenced for illegally trafficking wildlife to and from the United States and Vietnam, including rhinoceros horns, lion teeth, and a tiger pelt. Linh Luu and Kevin Le of Anaheim, California, pleaded guilty in federal court in Eugene, Oregon, to violating the Lacey Act, a federal law that prohibits wildlife trafficking. They were each sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped for the 26th time in 27 days Wednesday, falling 2.8 cents to $6.045. The average price has decreased 39.4 cents over the past 27 days, including 2.3 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The run of decreases follows a 44-day streak of increases totaling 79.7 cents that brought the average price within 5.4 cents of its record high, $6.493, set Oct. 5, 2022.

Southern California is likely to get Halloween rain this year, with the best chance arriving Saturday evening, Oct. 31, and continuing into Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Los Angeles, San Diego and much of the South Coast are in the storm’s path, while the Bay Area should stay mostly dry until late at night. If showers fall Saturday, it would be the first rainy Halloween in the Los Angeles area since 2014.
