PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Pitt County high school senior has earned one of the nation’s most prestigious undergraduate scholarships. Maya Swaggerty, a senior at Junius H. Rose High School, was named a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, receiving a full-ride scholarship.

The Hillsborough Police Department is seeking a man who it says robbed a bank just after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Police say an unidentified man walked into the First National Bank at 237 South Churton Street and demanded money from the teller. He then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries have been reported at this time.
