SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said a man who was rescued after from the Cleveland Park pond has died. Officials said 57-year-old David Douglas Thornton was taken to a hospital on June 23 after he went into the park’s pond to retrieve a personal item and never resurfaced.
