Two hospitalized in head-on crash near Diamond Head
HONOLULU (Island News) -- A head-on crash on Diamond Head Road on Wednesday afternoon led to two people getting hospitalized for their injuries. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the collision at 3187 Diamond Head Rd. near Leahi Beach Park around 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. EMS treated four people at the scene following the collision.
Vegetation growth from recent rains may stoke wildfire risk
The state is still reeling from recent floods, but climatologists are already eyeing another potential hazard — wildfire. Torrential rains in March and April have turned Hawaiʻi's landscapes green with new plant growth. Much of that vegetation is thirsty invasive grasses, which dominate Hawaiʻi's unmanaged lands. Those grasses likely won't stay green for long.
