The California High-Speed Rail Authority has finalized its environmental review for the Los Angeles-to-Anaheim segment, the last stretch of the system's first phase, locking in a plan that keeps high-speed trains sharing tracks with Amtrak and Metrolink rather than building separate dedicated lines through some of Southern California's busiest rail corridors.

COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA — An Orange County woman who registered her dog to vote has been sentenced to pay for billboards featuring the dog and warning against voter fraud, according to reports. Laura Lee Yourex, 63, cast a ballot in her dog Maya Jean’s name in the 2021 recall election, and it was counted. A second ballot in the 2022 primary was rejected. Yourex said she did it to expose flaws in California’s voting system.

An 89-year-old Long Beach man with a cognitive condition has not been seen since he walked out of his home with his dog Saturday morning, and police are now asking the public for help finding him.
