CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Three cases of a potentially deadly bacterium found in coastal waters and in seafood have been reported in South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Public Health told WMBF News that the three cases of Vibrio vulnificus are within the year. They also said they are aware of one related death.

Three rabies-positive animals identified in South Carolina on Sept. 11—one bat, one skunk and one stray cat—resulted in reported exposure of six people and seven pets across Anderson, Horry and York counties.
