MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been sentenced to more than 48 years of active jail time, including eight years of mandatory time, after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and arson in connection to the July 2025 deaths of two people, the Mathews County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office said Thursday.
