Friends of the Rockford Public Library to host used book sale
ROCKFORD — The Friends of the Rockford Public Library will host its final used book sale of the year, raising money to support the library and its programs. The sale is slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at the main library, 215 N. Wyman St., in downtown.

New plaque in Greenwood Cemetery marks rare link between Rockford and America’s founding era
ROCKFORD — A new historical marker now stands on the principal corridor in Rockford’s North End, commemorating a rare local link to the nation’s founding era. The marker honors Jehial Harmon, the Revolutionary War veteran buried at Greenwood Cemetery, 1011 Auburn St. This 10-foot plaque on North Main Street, just north of Veterans Memorial Circle, was unveiled and dedicated Saturday during a ceremony hosted by the Kishwaukee chapter of the Illinois Sons of the American Revolution.
