Springfield, MO – An unusually hot and dry October weather pattern is expected to create elevated fire danger across southwestern Missouri Sunday, Oct. 11, with temperatures reaching the lower 90s and gusty winds increasing the risk of rapidly spreading fires.

HIGHLANDVILLE, Mo. (KY3) -Crews with the Highlandville Rural Fire Protection District are advising everyone to avoid burning at this time following a fire on Friday. According to Highlandville Rural Fire, crews from multiple stations responded to a fire off of Peachtree Drive, north of State Highway O, in Highlandville at around 2:20 p.m. Crews said the fire burned over 200 acres and over 13,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish the flames.
