Johnson County opens applications for Pocket Prairie Program

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa — Johnson County homeowners will soon be able to apply for the Johnson County Soil Health Pocket Prairie Program, which helps residents convert sections of turf grass into native prairie plantings.

Applications for residents living in unincorporated areas of Johnson County will open at 9 a.m. July 1. Residents who live within city limits in Johnson County may apply beginning at 9 a.m. July 15 if spots remain available. Program approval will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis within each applicant group.
