IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – A new study from the University of Iowa is encouraging pregnant and postpartum women to stay buckled for their entire trip, even when caring for a child in the vehicle.
The research comes ahead of the busy Fourth of July travel weekend, when millions of Americans are expected to be on the roads. Researchers surveyed about 500 pregnant and postpartum women and found that while most reported wearing their seat belts consistently, about one in four who said they always buckle up also admitted to unbuckling before the vehicle had stopped.
